We are pleased John Craven featured rose veal recently on Countryfile, dispelling many myths, over the coming months of 2012 watch out for our product featuring in Jimmy Doherty's new series and on
the Great British Menu.

Veal is a lean pink versatile meat, reared to high welfare standards. The calves are raised very humanely here in the North of England with free access to water, light and high quality feed.

We specialise rose veal prime cuts, butchered to your specifications if requested, and we are delighted to supply and work with some of the best chefs, restaurants and farm shops in the North East

Newmoor has recently been endorsed by the chef Pierre Rigothier of The Jesmond Dene Hotel, Newcastle

Recently awarded his third AA Rosette Peirre comments
“Having grown up eating and cooking veal it is a real passion of mine and reminds me of my early years in France. At Jesmond Dene we pride ourselves on using local suppliers and produce wherever possible and finding a supplier of Rose veal locally was a real plus.  I went to visit the farm at Walworth near Darlington to see how the veal was raised and was impressed with the high welfare standards John operates at New Moor. With confidence in the product we have being buying the rear quarter of veal known as a ‘pistola’ as well as loins and sweetbreads. The meat is a fabulous pink colour, with a great flavour and smooth texture, at the moment the dish on our á la carte menu is Roast veal, braised lettuce, sweetbreads and mash potato which has proved popular. The quality of the product is a credit to John Archer and his Jersey’s”.

Pierre returned in 2011 to his native France, while Michael has taken over the reins at Jesmond Dene and currently has Newmoor Veal on the menu again.
